How do I create a server?

Sign up at zerosrp.co.uk/register, pick your game, choose a plan, and your server is provisioned automatically. Panel access at panel.zerosrp.co.uk is granted after your server is created; you do not create an account there. You can also start a free trial with no credit card required to test things out before committing.

What games can I host?

Zeros Host supports Garry's Mod (all gamemodes including DarkRP), Minecraft (Java Edition: vanilla, Paper, Forge, Fabric), Terraria, Project Zomboid, Rust, and Discord bots (Node.js and Python). Plans and pricing for each game are on the Pricing page. If you want a game that is not listed, contact us, as we may be able to add it.

What plans are available and how much do they cost?

Pricing varies by game type, all billed in GBP with no hidden fees. Garry's Mod and Minecraft plans start at £5/mo. Project Zomboid plans start at £10/mo. Terraria starts at £2/mo. Which plan should I pick for my game?

The right plan depends on your game, expected player count, and the addons or mods you plan to run. For Garry's Mod: a DarkRP server with 20-30 players and a full addon stack needs at least 4 GB RAM. Sandbox or TTT with fewer addons can run on less. Start at 4 GB and monitor usage; the Server Vitals page shows RAM consumption under load. For Minecraft: vanilla or lightly-modded Paper with up to 20 players runs on 2-3 GB. A large modpack (300+ mods) typically needs 6-8 GB. For Project Zomboid: a 16-player server runs well on 4 GB. Performance scales with player count and map size. For Discord bots: most bots run comfortably on the smallest plan. RAM matters if your bot handles large datasets or heavy image processing. For Terraria: the base plan handles most server sizes. When in doubt, start on a mid-tier plan. You can upgrade at any time without losing data, and the prorated billing means you only pay for the upgrade from the point you switch.

How does the free trial work?

The trial gives you a fully functional server with no credit card required. You get access to all panel features so you can properly evaluate the platform. All game server trials run for 24 hours. When the trial ends, the server is stopped but your files are kept for a short period in case you decide to upgrade.

Do I need a credit card to start the free trial?

Accepted Answer

No. The free trial requires only an account, with no payment details. You get a fully functional server for 24 hours. When the trial ends the server stops, but your files are kept so you can upgrade to a paid plan and pick up where you left off. One trial per account for the lifetime of the account. To try a different game, upgrade your existing trial to a paid plan first.

Where are the servers located?

Most of our servers run on Hetzner VPS infrastructure in Germany, and we also have a real UK node live in London, chosen to keep latency low for UK and EU players. We do not currently offer US or APAC locations.

Question 8

Can I host multiple games on one account?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can have multiple servers on one account, each running a different game. Each server has its own plan and billing. They are managed from the same panel login. There is no additional charge for having multiple servers; you pay for each server's plan separately.

Can I migrate an existing server from another host?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The standard approach is to download your server files from your current host (via FTP or their file manager), then upload them to your Zeros Host server using the File Manager or SFTP. For Minecraft: download your world folder(s) and plugins directory, upload them to the same paths on the new server. If you were running a specific server JAR version, match it in the Version Manager. For GMod: download your garrysmod/addons/, garrysmod/cfg/, and garrysmod/data/ folders and upload them. For Rust: download your server/<identity>/ folder contents. If your server is large (10+ GB), the upload may take some time. Start a paid plan rather than a trial for a migration, because trials run for a limited time and large uploads may not complete within the window.

How do I contact support?

Join the Zeros Host Discord (link in the panel header or site footer) and post in the support channel. Response times are typically under a few hours. For billing, account, or sensitive issues, email hello@zerosrp.co.uk with a brief description of the problem. Include your account email and server ID so we can look it up quickly. For panel or technical issues, you can also open a support ticket from inside the panel. Tickets go to the same team as email.

How do I replay the onboarding tour?

The onboarding tour walks you through the key areas of your server panel. If you dismissed it early or want to run through it again, you can replay it at any time. Open the Help menu in the panel navigation; it appears as a question mark icon. Select "Replay tour" from the menu. The tour starts from the beginning at your server dashboard. You can skip the tour again at any point by clicking the X button, and it will ask you to confirm before closing.

What is the Setup Progress widget and how do I dismiss it?

The Setup Progress widget is a small panel that appears in the bottom-right corner of your panel dashboard. It tracks 10 setup tasks to help you get your first server fully configured. The 10 tasks are: pick your first server, start the server, open the console and send a command, upload an addon or file, set your Steam Web API token, invite a teammate as a subuser, set up billing details, customise your server settings, schedule automatic backups, and read the Help docs or join the Discord. Some tasks complete automatically. "Pick your first server" is marked done as soon as you have a server. "Start your server" is marked done when your server reaches running status. For the others, use the action buttons on each item: either a direct link to the relevant panel page, a "Show me how" button that launches a guided tour step, or an "I did this" button for tasks where no automatic check is possible. The widget can be collapsed. Click the header bar to collapse it to just the progress bar and step count. The collapsed state is saved in your browser, so it stays collapsed across page loads. To dismiss the widget entirely, click the X button in the top-right corner of the widget. Dismiss is permanent per account; the widget will not reappear after you close it, even in a different browser. Once all 10 tasks are done, the widget shows a short completion message with a Dismiss button. At that point the X button is no longer shown, so the only way to close it is through the completion screen.

What does a normal first server startup look like?

The first time you start a new server, expect it to take longer than usual. The panel has to download the game files before the server process can run, which can take several minutes depending on the game. Watch the Console page for progress. You will see download and validation lines, followed by the actual game server boot sequence. A successful start ends with specific confirmation messages: for GMod, look for "Connection to Steam servers successful" and "Gamemode loaded" near the end of the log. Other games show their own equivalent "ready" line, usually something like "Done" or "Server startup complete". If the server stops immediately after starting rather than staying online, check three things in order: the App ID or server type on the Startup page is correct for your game, the console log for the first error line (scroll up from the bottom, the real cause is often above a wall of follow-on errors), and whether you have hit your plan's memory limit. What is my free server address, and does it ever change?

Every server gets a free subdomain automatically, in the form <your-server-id>.play.zerosrp.co.uk. It never changes for the lifetime of your server and points at the same underlying IP as your server's raw address, so there is no performance difference between using the subdomain and the raw IP. For Minecraft specifically, a DNS SRV record is created alongside the subdomain, so players can connect using just the hostname with no port number needed. You can find your server's address on the Server Vitals page. If it ever fails to provision (rare), you will see a warning banner on the Vitals or Settings page with a link to contact support; include your server's ID when you reach out.

How do I point my own domain at my server?

Open your server and click Domain in the sidebar - it's its own page, not part of Settings. The panel shows you exactly which DNS records to add, with copy buttons for each value. For a subdomain (e.g. play.yourcommunity.com), add a CNAME record pointing at your free server address. For an apex/root domain (e.g. yourcommunity.com), use an A record instead, since CNAME records are not valid at the root of a domain. For Minecraft, also add the SRV record the panel shows you, so players can connect without specifying a port. After adding the records, click "Verify DNS" in the panel. Propagation can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours depending on your DNS provider; a shorter TTL (300 seconds) while you are setting things up means quicker verification, and you can raise it back to something like 3600 seconds once everything works. Do not remove your free subdomain until the custom domain has verified successfully, in case you need to fall back to it.

What does each section of the panel actually do?

A quick reference for what each item in your server's sidebar does. Console shows your server's live log and the Start / Restart / Stop controls. Files is a browser-based file manager; for large transfers, use SFTP instead. Databases creates and manages MySQL databases for your server, each with its own credentials. Schedules runs tasks automatically on a cron-style schedule, not just restarts. Users manages subuser access if you want to give someone else limited control of your server. Backups creates and restores point-in-time snapshots of your server files. Network shows your IP and port allocations, with space for notes on what each port is for. Startup holds your server's startup command and game-specific environment variables (gamemode, map, App ID, player limit, and so on). Settings covers renaming your server, viewing SFTP credentials, and reinstalling if you need a clean slate.
