But then the factory only runs while your computer does, and stops the moment you close the game, even if someone else is mid-build. A dedicated server keeps it running and reachable around the clock, so anyone in your group can join on their own schedule.

Your factory is backed up on a schedule. Restore to a previous save from the panel if a bad blueprint or a train pileup wrecks something.

Edit server settings and save files from a browser-based file manager. No FTP client required.
Live Console

Saves grow with your factory
World files only contain the map you have actually explored and built on, so a new factory starts small and grows in size the longer it runs.
